Trellis them up an arbor and let the fruits of White Wonder Cucumber hang from under the dark cucumber foliage. Chop into salads or slice into the pickle jar. Once you grow heirloom White Wonder cucumber, you may wonder why it went out of fashion. Tolerates heat and grows supremely in most regions of the Unites States, the pale white skin tinged with green is juicy and prolific.
Plant Information
Developed in New York State prior to 1890, the unique and beautiful White Wonder cucumber became a beloved Southern heirloom. Its vines are vigorous, heat tolerant, and prolific, producing heavy yields of sizeable cucumbers measuring 6-8 inches when mature. Considered to be the best slicing cucumber, White Wonder has a pale green seed center surrounded by crisp white flesh, so it's quite the looker when used to dress up a salad and certainly stands out in a sandwich crowd. White Wonder cucumbers also make delicious pickles. For optimum taste and prolonged freshness, pick them when they're 6-8 inches in length, but before the blossom end turns yellow. They do well stored in the fridge, but are always the best enjoyed right away.
