Late Flat Dutch cabbage is kind of a big deal, and it's gotten a pretty big head as a result. Literally. Its heads grow to about a foot in diameter! A garden classic that's been celebrated for centuries. Flavorful and durable. Great for storing. Mature heads weigh up to 15 pounds. 60-100 days.
Plant Information
Brought to the US by German immigrants and known as Premium Late Flat Dutch prior to 1840, this cabbage was described by Burr in 1863 as being one of the best late fall and winter cabbages. The heads are very large, blue-green in color, and somewhat oval in shape, and at full maturity they weigh in at a hefty 10-15 pounds. Excellent for fresh eating or storage, this is the classic garden cabbage that one always wants as part of the crop.
