Developed in New York State prior to 1890, the unique and beautiful White Wonder cucumber became a beloved Southern heirloom. Its vines are vigorous, heat tolerant, and prolific, producing heavy yields of sizeable cucumbers measuring 6-8 inches when mature. Considered to be the best slicing cucumber, White Wonder has a pale green seed center surrounded by crisp white flesh, so it's quite the looker when used to dress up a salad and certainly stands out in a sandwich crowd. White Wonder cucumbers also make delicious pickles. For optimum taste and prolonged freshness, pick them when they're 6-8 inches in length, but before the blossom end turns yellow. They do well stored in the fridge, but are always the best enjoyed right away.
