Cincinnati Market radishes also go by the name Long Scarlet, the latter of the two a bit more fitting. Their long, carrot-like appearance and vibrant scarlet color make them real lookers from garden to table. And their mild, pepper flavor and crisp, juicy texture mean they're tops in taste too. 25-30 days.
Plant Information
Also known as Long Scarlet, Cincinnati Market radishes have been around since the 1800s when longer varieties of radishes were more common than the round ones we see most often today. Like most radishes, it's a rapid grower and reliable producer, yielding generous crops of carrot-shaped radishes about 6-7 inches in length and 1-2 inches in diameter. Their bright scarlet skin is thin and tender and the pristine white flesh inside is crisp and juicy, creating a deliciously mild, slightly peppery flavor that's great for salads, veggie plates, and other summer staples. With seedlings emerging in just a few days and mature radishes ready in just a few weeks, Cincinnati Market radishes are fast, non-fussy growers and very generous yielders. This makes them ideal for successive sowings; simply plant a new crop every 2-3 weeks from early spring to mid-summer and enjoy impressive yields of these gorgeous radishes all season long. While extremely tolerant of cold weather and frosts, Cincinnati Market radishes don't do well in extreme heat, so plant about two months before any fall frosts if you want a crop for winter storage.
