First introduced in 1871, the Golden Wax bush bean is one of the oldest known varieties of wax beans. It's had a few other names since its introduction, including Rustproof Golden Wax and Topnotch. Reaching approximately 2 feet in height, Golden Wax bush bean plants are self-supporting and easy to grow in a garden, a raised bed, or containers. A mature plant will produce quite a heavy harvest of impressive, 6-inch, flat yellow pods that are disease resistant and very productive. Golden Wax beans are great fresh, frozen, or canned, steamed or cooked in a favorite recipe, or enjoyed raw as part of a salad or snack. They're low in calories, yet full of healthy carbohydrates and protein. They're also a great source of calcium, iron, and manganese, as well as vitamin C and other antioxidants.
