Plant Information
Named after the Connecticut town that's also been referred to as "the Onion Capital," Southport White Globe onions are an heirloom variety that can be planted for growing bunching scallions or producing long day globe onions. They thrive in a variety of climates and are especially cold hardy; start them indoors and they'll be ready to plant in early spring. Southport White Globe onion plants will produce numerous globe-shaped onions with white skins and a mildly delicious taste that's slightly stronger than other varieties. This makes them a favorite for countless uses in the kitchen, adding fantastic flavor whether raw or cooked. Southport White Globe onion seeds can also be planted to produce scallions, which are ready in as little as 60 days.
