Grow this large, smooth leaved spinach to eat fresh or pack into freezer for winter use, Giant Noble is reliable and uniform. No garden is complete without a good bed of spinach, sow spring or fall since it prefers cool weather. Giant Noble is your best choice for heritage flavor, and winner of the prestigious AAS award in 1933.
Also known as Long Standing Gaudry, Giant Noble spinach was first introduced in 1926 and enjoyed an immediately popularity that has never waned. One look at this impressive variety when mature and it's easy to see how it got its giant name, as the plants it produces can have a spread over 2 feet wide! Each plant has numerous, very large leaves, all of them smooth, dark, and tender with a triangular shape and rounded tips. As robust and delicious as they are beautiful, Giant Noble spinach leaves are gorgeous and tasty in salads or on sandwiches, steamed as a side, cooked in countless recipes, and canned or frozen for later use. Spinach is a fast-growing, cool-weather crop that can be planted in successive sowings. Begin in the spring as soon as the soil can be worked and repeat sowings every two weeks until the heat of summer. Then plant again in later summer for a fall crop.
