Green Striped Cushaw Pumpkin is a well-known southern squash, the preferred choice for pies and turnovers, or served spiced and sweetened straight from the pot. Creole and Cajun cooks call this squash Juirdmom, a distinctive green striped crookneck shape, this winter squash can average 10-20 pounds apiece.
Although closer in appearance to several types of squash, Cushaw Green-Striped pumpkins are in fact pumpkins. And like many of their orange-hued family members, they're exceptional for making pies. Their intriguing, curvy shape is very smooth with mottled green and white stripes and their tender and tasty yellow flesh is irresistibly sweet. Considered a heavy yielder, the Cushaw Green-Striped variety will treat you to a large quantity of hardy, 20-inch pumpkins, so you'll have plenty for all your pie-making and decorating needs as well as some spares to share. To help with longevity, be sure to harvest them with their stems still intact.
