Productive, absolutely stringless and always tender, what more could you ask from a green bean? Steam ‘til tender, top with a knob of sweet butter, and you’ve got dinner on the table. Bountiful Bush Beans are early, reliable, delicious that has been a staple of kitchen gardens since 1898.
The Bountiful variety of bush beans was introduced in 1898 by D.G. Burlingame of Genesee, New York and is one vegetable that's very true to its name. Its plants are very heavy yielding, producing numerous, medium-dark-green pods measuring up to 6 inches in length, each with several tan beans inside. Reaching approximately 2 feet in height, Bountiful bush bean plants are self-supporting and easy to grow in a garden, a raised bed, or containers. They're very quick to mature, making them ideal for short growing seasons like those found in the north. A mature plant will produce quite a heavy harvest of impressive pods 5-6 inches in length. Bountiful bush beans will be ready to pick about 10 weeks after they're sown. You'll know exactly when they're "ripe for the picking" because they'll be about as thick as a pencil and their sides will be curvy thanks to all the healthy beans inside. Versatile and flavorful, Bountiful bush beans are perfect for freezing and canning, steamed or cooked in a favorite recipe, or enjoyed raw as part of a salad or snack. They're rich in antioxidants and extremely high in fiber and flavonoids, helping to reduce heart disease risk. They're also an excellent source of key vitamins, like A, C, K, and B6, as well as folic acid.
